UITS launches series of IT awareness celebrations across all IU campuses
University Information Technology Services is pleased to announce the launch of the 2008-09 "season" of Make IT Happen (MITH), a series of IT awareness celebrations taking place across the university throughout the year. The first of these events is taking place at IU Bloomington on Wednesday, September 10, from 10am-4pm at the Herman B Wells Library. The Bloomington event -- a resource expo featuring over 40 exhibits -- heralds a new look and feel for all upcoming Make IT Happen events, as well as an expanded target audience that includes faculty and staff, as well as students.
The goal of Make IT Happen events is to raise awareness within our many diverse communities about the wealth of IT services, resources, and initiatives available on our campuses. Also, these events offer an opportunity to share information about cutting edge research and new innovations aided by IU's premier technology landscape. And, we hope that folks have some fun, too!
Many of this year's MITH events will for the first time in recent history take place early in the academic year so that those new (and returning) to IU can quickly learn about—and take advantage of—all that is available to enhance teaching, learning, and scholarship. We believe this is an important change that will result in more people using more IT resources earlier and more often.
Finally, these events would not be possible without the support of our vendor-partners. Working closely with our IU Purchasing colleagues, we were able to streamline our approach to vendor engagement, resulting in increased participation and sponsorship. And, with vendor participation and sponsorship at an all-time high, we plan to add more events and activities to the MITH "brand," creating a critical mass of buzz that will be bigger than any single event.
