Microsoft and Google coming to IU Bloomington
Microsoft and Google to showcase technology as part of recent IU partnership on email and collaboration suites
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sept. 16, 2008
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Both Google and Microsoft representatives are coming to IU Bloomington in September to bring the message of their educational offerings to students. Earlier this year Indiana University partnered with both Google and Microsoft to provide a choice for students and alumni on all IU campuses for enhanced email and collaboration services.

As part of the partnership, IU recently launched Imail (powered by Microsoft) and Umail (powered by Google). In addition to these email offerings, both services provide a diverse set of features including calendaring, instant messaging, document and spreadsheet applications, and more. They also provide large storage allocations for email and documents.
The partnerships with Google and Microsoft allow IU students and alumni to access these popular commercial services while still maintaining their traditional IU email addresses. Students who use these services continue receiving mail at their IU email addresses (e.g.: jdoe@iupui.edu or jdoe@iusb.edu) long into the future.
