IU GIS expert Anna Radue elected to IGIC Board

University Information Technology Services (UITS) Database and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist Anna Radue was recently elected to the board of directors of Indiana's premier GIS organization. Radue will serve a three-year term on the board of the Indiana Geographic Information Council (IGIC), a nonprofit organization of GIS users, professionals, and educators recognized as the coordinating body for all geographic information in Indiana. At Indiana University, Radue, who is also an IU alumna, provides GIS and remote sensing technical support to all IU campuses throughout the state.   Full Story >>

Lance D. Speelmon joins Sakai Foundation Board

The Sakai Foundation recently announced the election of Indiana University's Lance D. Speelmon to its board of directors. In this role, Speelmon will participate in foundation governance and in determining priorities for Sakai's development of open-source course management tools and its related higher education software for teaching, learning, research, and collaborative applications.   Full Story >>

Colorado State University joins Kuali Foundation

Colorado State University has joined the Kuali Foundation as an investing partner in the Kuali Financial and Research Administration Systems. The Kuali Foundation is a non-profit organization responsible for sustaining and evolving a comprehensive suite of administrative software that meets the needs of all Carnegie Class institutions. CSU joins 20 other university investing partners including Indiana University. Kuali Financial is based on IU's financial system.   Full Story >>

University of Southern California joins Kuali Foundation

During today's annual meeting of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) the University of Southern California (USC) announced that it has joined the Kuali Foundation (http://kuali.org) as an investing partner in the development of community source administrative systems for higher education.   Full Story >>

Indiana University earns top honors for innovative use of GIS technology

Indiana University's work with geographic information system (GIS) software was recognized recently with a Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award at the 27th Annual ESRI International User Conference in San Diego, Calif. IU stood out from more than 300,000 organizations worldwide that use GIS software to make a difference in the world.   Full Story >>

IU staff streamline use of Indiana geographic data

As useful as high resolution geographic image data is of the state of Indiana , large file sizes created a barrier for their use. The Indiana Geographic Information Council recently recognized three Indiana University staff members for developing a user-friendly mechanism for downloading multiple files from the Indiana Spatial Data Portal (ISDP), a large repository of Indiana geospatial data. David Heald, database analyst and Stephanie Snider, GIS specialist, both of University Information Technology Services, and Nathan Eaton, information services manager of IU's Indiana Geological Survey, received the Indiana GIS Award during the Council's annual conference.   Full Story >>
