The Indiana University Faculty Podcasting Initiative will support more than 60 innovative faculty members as they explore the potential of podcasting in higher education and student learning. Supported by Apple and AT&T with equipment and software -- and with the guidance of the IU centers for teaching and learning -- faculty projects will commence in the fall semester of 2008.

IU digital artist Margaret Dolinsky is the 2008 Outstanding Educator in Science, Technology, and Engineering. Presented by the Women and Hi Tech organization, the award acknowledges the tremendous impact educators have on their students and the role they play in creating opportunities for growth and development. Dolinsky holds a dual appointment as an assistant professor in the Henry Radford Hope School of Fine Arts at Indiana University Bloomington and as a research scientist in the IU Advanced Visualization Lab (AVL).

Indiana University staff member Debby Allmayer, who serves as the human resources officer for the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology and CIO, was honored with the 2008 Indiana University Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Building Bridges Community Award during a ceremony held on the Bloomington campus on January 21. The Building Bridges Award honors members of the community who display the leadership and social consciousness embodied by Dr. King. For many years, Allmayer has contributed greatly to the IU and the Bloomington communities with her steadfast commitment to social justice and outreach.

University Information Technology Services (UITS) Database and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist Anna Radue was recently elected to the board of directors of Indiana's premier GIS organization. Radue will serve a three-year term on the board of the Indiana Geographic Information Council (IGIC), a nonprofit organization of GIS users, professionals, and educators recognized as the coordinating body for all geographic information in Indiana. At Indiana University, Radue, who is also an IU alumna, provides GIS and remote sensing technical support to all IU campuses throughout the state.

Several of Indiana University's IT communicators recently received national award recognition for communications excellence at the 2007 Special Interest Group on University and College Computing Services (SIGUCCS) Communications Awards.
