Next-generation wireless coming to Indiana University campuses this fall

Indiana University students, faculty and staff on the Bloomington and Indianapolis campuses who wirelessly connect their laptops and handheld devices to the Internet will find greater coverage and ease of use once IU's new next-generation wireless hardware is installed. Users of handheld devices, such as iPhones, will be able to move seamlessly among wireless access points without losing their connection, just as cell phone users can travel between cellular towers without losing calls.   Full Story >>

TeraGrid Knowledge Base achieves milestones in content and use during 2007

The University of Chicago and Indiana University announced today that use of the TeraGrid Knowledge Base, a 24/7 online user-driven support system for the TeraGrid, has passed two significant milestones. The TeraGrid Knowledge Base now includes more than 250 articles and during 2007 was accessed by U.S. researchers and information technologists more than 140,000 times. IU presents workshop on advanced cyberinfrastructure at prominent national science conference

Indiana University technologists will inform some of the nation's top research scientists about advanced cyberinfrastructure at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) being held next month in Boston. IU is sponsoring a tutorial and workshop at the event titled "The TeraGrid: An essential tool for 21st century science" on Sunday, February 17, from 10:30-noon.   Full Story >>

Indiana University provides life sciences data via the TeraGrid

Indiana University is making a large variety of life sciences data available to the US research community via the TeraGrid, through the IU Centralized Life Sciences Data (CLSD) service. The data available via CLSD include amongst others dbSNP, Saccaromyces Genome Database, PubMed, and several NCBI BLAST databases including NT, NR, and SP. US researchers who are interested in making use of this service are invited to contact the IU TeraGrid Research Partner site -- the Research Technologies Division of Indiana University.   Full Story >>

IU and Zayo Bandwidth to work together on I-Light

Indiana University and Zayo Bandwidth announced that they have reached consensus on previously reported concerns regarding the acquisition of Indiana Fiber Works. As a result, IU has withdrawn its request to the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission to suspend the acquisition of IFW to Zayo.   Full Story >>
