Now that you've safely made your way through the vampires and zombies of Halloween, Indiana University's Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research (CACR) wants to remind everyone that you are much more likely to be haunted by cyber-criminals than by ghosts or ghouls. CACR has teamed up with public radio station WFIU to produce "Security Matters," a series of radio spots alerting listeners to cyber threats and directing them to practical information about how they can protect themselves. Each radio spot also has a corresponding three to five minute video segment on the Security Matters website, demonstrating simple steps that listeners can take to protect against cyber threats.

The robots are back and ready for another summer showdown at the fourth annual Summer Technology Workshop for teens. Indiana high school students with an interest in computer technology, programming, or networking can once again work side-by-side with IU technology professionals to build a robot and compete against other teams during this hands-on workshop sponsored by Indiana University's Pervasive Technology Institute. The workshop will introduce teens to the fields of high-speed network research, cybersecurity, and basic computer programming. As students work in small teams to build a robot with kits from the LEGO® Mindstorms® series, they will learn how those concepts can be applied to the robot for legitimate and malicious purposes.
